About the Event

Story Bites Book Club is our inclusive book club for children aged 7 - 11 years (KS2)

We meet in the emporium on the second Sunday of the month to discuss a book that the group have read or listened to before the session. During the session we explore the book through games, activities and discussion. Each month there is a choice of book, one with an interest age of 7 - 9 and the other with an interest age of 9+. We encourage the children to choose books based on interest age rather than ability as we find they get more out of the activities this way.

Books are available to collect from the emporium a month before the session, or they can be posted out to you.

Parents do not stay for this event. All of our staff are enhanced DBS checked.

About the book:

Bronte Tempestra and the Lightning Seeds by Bex Hogan

Bronte Tempestra of the Storm Kingdom is taking charge of her own destiny - she will be the first ever princess to become a knight! But knight school isn't the fun-filled adventure Bronte is expecting - the knights don't seem interested in saving... anything. And when she discovers that the Lightning Steeds have gone missing, leaving the Thunder Trolls to wreak havoc across the lands, she knows it's her moment to prove just how brave a princess can be. Bronte must face down pompous griffin lords and bare-bottomed cloud-stealing gnomes, monstrous horrorflies and spooky zombits. The future of the entire kingdom is at stake! It's time for the princess to rescue the knights!

Countdown to Yesterday by Shirley Marr

James is stuck in the present and that's the last place he wants to be. His parents have suddenly separated, and he has to get used to living two completely different lives. Now, he has two homes to stay in, two bedrooms to divide his things between, and two different routes to take to school. Unfortunately, nothing is adding up to the one great life James used to have and he wishes he could go back to the past, to his Top Six good memories with Mum and Dad. Then during Science Week, James meets the enigmatic Yan, a girl who looks at the world with x-ray eyes, and he discovers that travelling back in time might not be impossible after all. But are his best memories as perfect as he remembers?
