What would happen if a whole year group explored a single book on their own terms and used it to spring board a creative project?
Story Bites in School is an initiative that enables groups of pupils to explore an interest age appropriate book in a creative way. Designed to encourage comprehension and literary engagement by developing enthusiasm for the text and autonomous reading in general, Story Bites emphasises the fun in reading for pleasure and develops confidence in able and reluctant readers alike.
STORY BITES in School
Each Story Bites in School project lasts the minimum of a term and is developed for and by the children who take part.
Please contact Dr Jacqueline Johnson by emailing to discuss bringing a Story Bites in School project to your school.

Story Bites has proved to be pivotal in our push to encourage reading for pleasure at Hamstel. The collaborative nature of the scheme certainly fosters a desire in the children to read the book at home, especially those who don’t usually read outside of school. This, combined with Jacqui’s boundless enthusiasm for children’s literature and the creativity of the tasks she designs for the children has brought us back to Story Bites for a second year. Our ‘Mummy Museums’ and ‘Model Village’ were the talk of the school!
